EXCERPT FROM " THE INERN DIARIES/INDUSTRY INSIDER "......
When I first mentioned to my mother that I wanted to enter the Entertainment
industry she wasn’t pleased at all, she would rather me study computers or go to
college for four years like my older brother . but she supported my dream
and gave me the number to my step fathers cousin “ PUMA “ who Had been
working with “, DON POOH” and female rapper Foxy Brown, PUMA was also managing
Foxy brown’s younger brother Gavin Aka Pretty boy. When I made that phone call
I was as nervous as a hooker in church on a Sunday, but I got thru it dialed the
number and it rang, and rang and rang some more. When PUMA finally did answer
the phone it sounded like he had his hand over his mouth but I later learned he
was just smoking a blunt and talking and to me at the same time and the loud
music and the many deep voices in the background didn’t help me stay focused on
the conversation either. So I asked him," So Puma wut is the best way for me
to break into the industry?", his retort was "Go knock down the doors of the
record labels stand outside and approach label heads, be willing to work for
free!" all of which was good advice but after that advice he hung up the phone I
guess he was just being hard on me to get me prepared for the things that I will
later be subjected to So after that dead end phone call I remembered another one
of my Step father’s associates was involved in the music industry His name was
“ Wonderful “ he was about 4ft nothing but had the swagger of a 6 ft nigga ,
he was always iced out and spoke with a Brooklyn accent . Wonderful always
drove a nice car, always had designer clothes and he ran with some of the
realest niggas in the hood and was even rumored to be dating rap star Lil Kim at
one point. Some how I got a hold of Wonderful’s number and I decided to call
him, when I called Wonderful I wasn’t as nervous as when I called my cousin
PUMA, For some reason it was just more difficult asking family members for “
favors” it seemed easier to just ask a friend of the family.even though ive
known both all my life. Puma even drew pastel pictures of cartoon characters
when he was Locked up for me and my older brother . But in any event I
dialed the number and I asked Wonderful the same questions I asked Puma earlier
that week. I was determined to get an internship of any kind at any costs. That
Phone call to Wonderful proved to be a good one he told me he would get in
contact with some of his “people” over at Universal Records The next day when I
returned home from School I was Hyped I ran directly to my parents room to check
the caller ID to see if Wonderful had called back and he did..........
